The fitting
We are deliberately old-fashioned about fittings: chalk, pins, a three-way mirror, and no rush. Most consultations take thirty minutes and cost nothing.
Call or stop by. Consultations are free and unhurried; bring the garment, and we'll talk through what's possible before any pins come out.
You'll be measured standing naturally, the way you actually wear clothes. We mark in chalk and pin in mirror view so you see the line as we go.
Return for a try-on, we make the final adjustments, and the garment is pressed on proper forms. Most alterations are ready in three to five days.

Our tailor
Silvano began as a boy in his uncle's shop on the Via Chiaia in Naples, where he learned to cut a jacket the way his grandfather did: by eye, by hand, and by the way a man stands. After twenty-five years in New York and Connecticut tailoring houses, he opened his own door on Bedford Street in 2004.
His rule is simple: a garment should disappear on your body. If anyone notices the tailoring, it isn't done yet.

From the fitting room
Most hems and waist adjustments are three to five days. Suit recuts and custom work run one to three weeks. You'll get an exact date at the consultation, in writing.
Usually, up to about two sizes, depending on the seam allowance. Bring it in and we'll open the seams and give you the honest truth about what's possible.
We do. Beaded and sequined work is done by hand, and leather gets a dedicated machine and thread. Prices are quoted per piece once we've seen the garment.
Completely. Thirty minutes, a three-way mirror, honest advice, including the advice that you shouldn't spend the money. We give that advice a lot, too.
